WellSaid Labs
Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
WellSaid Labs is a voice-over studio: text at the input, ready sound at the output. The tool describes its work like this: "Studio — Turn scripts into voice in seconds", and its library of voices as "Explore hundreds of realistic AI voices". Inside the studio are announced joint work on projects, control of intonation ("Studio tools for tone, pitch and emotional control") and caption files ("Caption files").
Separately named are an API for embedding and links with third-party editors, a section "Ethics — How we build AI voice responsibly" and a "Voice Actor Program" — a recruitment of live voice actors. Everything listed is from the pricing page, that is, a description by the tool of itself.
About the address: wellsaidlabs.com answers with a permanent redirect (301) to wellsaid.io. Old links work, but lead to the new domain.
Which platforms it works with
Not one social network does the tool name — neither as a direction of publishing, nor as an integration.
What is named: an API — "Add voice to your product or platform", a section "Integrations — Connect to your creative tools" and with the Pro plan one link by name — "Adobe Express integration". Adobe Express remains the only platform named by name; the composition of the integrations section is not disclosed.
Export to social networks is not announced: there are only caption files ("Caption files"), and that is a file format, not support of a platform.
Pricing
All the prices are from the pricing page, the currency is US dollars.
With annual payment: Starter — "$10 /mo", "Billed annually at $120/year", "Save 47%"; Pro — "$33 /mo", "Billed annually at $396/year", "Save 33%". With monthly payment the same plans are dearer: Starter — "$19 /mo", Pro — "$49 /mo".
Team plans: Business — "$160 /mo/user", "Billed annually at $1,920/year"; Enterprise — "Custom", on request. The team plans are offered only with annual payment.
What is free
A free entry exists and is called Trial: "Free", "No credit card required". Included: "Create your first voiceover in minutes", "3 download minutes per month (no commercial rights)", "Curated voice actors", "Studio tools for tone, pitch and emotional control".
The unit here is not a term but a volume: three minutes a month for downloading. And the note "no commercial rights" in the same line means that the free output may not be used for commercial purposes.
Restrictions
The limit is counted in minutes of downloaded sound, not in the number of generations. On all the paid plans "Unlimited generation" is declared: you may create as much as you like, what is limited is the export of what is ready.
Trial — "3 download minutes per month". Starter — "240 minutes/year downloaded audio" with annual payment or "20 minutes/month" with monthly, plus "10 projects", "All English voices" and "24 kHz sample rate". Pro — "2,160 minutes/year" or "180 minutes/month", "Unlimited projects", "Up to 48 kHz sample rate". Business — "2,880 minutes/year/user", "Purchase up to 5 seats".
To hit the ceiling does not mean waiting for the month: on the paid plans there is declared "Extra minutes available" — "Additional minutes available for purchase in Studio". The price of an additional minute is not named.
Rights to the output
Here there is a discrepancy, and it matters more than the prices.
On the pricing page the commercial rights are tied to the plan: with Trial — "3 download minutes per month (no commercial rights)", with Starter, Pro and Business — "Full commercial rights", and the general subheading reads "All with unlimited generation and commercial rights built-in".
In the terms themselves this is not there. Only the rules of the site are stipulated there, and the licence is given "to access and use the Website for your personal, non-commercial viewing only" — that is, for viewing the site, personally and non-commercially. About the rights to the sound created not a word is said in the posted terms, and a contract for the product itself is not posted as a separate page on the site.
Commercial rights are announced by a marketing pricing page, while the posted contract relates to the site, not to the studio. The discrepancy is not resolved.
Do they train on your data
The source does not say. Neither the terms, nor the privacy policy say whether the voice models are trained on what the user uploads; an opt-out from such use is not described either. The word "train" is not in the substantive part of the pages checked.
But that is not a promise that there is no training.
How you earn with it
What there is is the "Voice Actor Program", a recruitment of live voice actors, announced on the site on a par with the section on ethics. Terms, rates and the order of selection the source does not give: only the very existence of the programme is named.
The second thing is the tying of commercial rights to the plan: on the paid plans the pricing page promises "Full commercial rights", on Trial there stands "no commercial rights". The reservation from the section on rights this does not cancel.
What it will not do
It will not publish for you on social networks: not one platform is named either as a direction of export or as an integration. The only link by name is Adobe Express, and that only on the Pro plan.
It is not ready to give a commercial output free of charge: with Trial there stands "no commercial rights", and three minutes a month is the whole free volume of export.
It will not let you download without a count on the paid plans either: what is declared unlimited is generation, not export.
Requirements to mark what AI has created the tool does not put forward: the words "watermark" and "C2PA" are not in the posted terms and policy. An "Ethics" section on the site exists, but it is not the terms of the contract.

Limits and restrictions
the limit is counted in minutes of downloaded audio, not in generations: Trial — "3 download minutes per month"; Starter — "240 minutes/year downloaded audio" with annual payment or "20 minutes/month" with monthly payment, "10 projects", "All English voices", "24 kHz sample rate"; Pro — "2,160 minutes/year" or "180 minutes/month", "Unlimited projects", "Up to 48 kHz sample rate"; Business — "2,880 minutes/year/user", "Purchase up to 5 seats"; on all the paid plans "Unlimited generation" and "Extra minutes available" — "Additional minutes available for purchase in Studio"
generation is not limited, what is limited is the export of the finished audio

Restrictions
the acceptable use policy forbids: passing off generated material as human-made and misleading anyone about the origin of a recording at all; taking part in disinformation campaigns, fake reviews and comments; violent extremism and terrorism; hatred, discrimination, harassment and threats; regulated and age-inappropriate topics (alcohol, tobacco, nicotine and vapes, psychoactive substances, weapons, gambling, contraceptives, sex toys, escorts, dating services, adult venues); selling weapons and explosives; pornography and descriptions of sexual acts; child sexual abuse material; impersonating a candidate, an official or an election commission representative for fraudulent purposes; influencing elections, voter suppression and disinformation about dates, polling stations and the right to vote; spam and phishing
voice cloning separately: the services agreement https://www.wellsaid.io/wsa-online requires the express written consent of every person whose voice is uploaded («express written consent») and forbids uploading recordings without such consent. Moderation is both human and automated; on Enterprise, individual moderation rules and allowlists are possible (from the pricing page)

Legal
there is nothing to opt out of: the services agreement expressly forbids training on customer data — verbatim «For clarity WellSaid will not use Customer Data to train its or any third party's AI models» (the Customer Data section); Customer Data is defined as Input and Output; about a user's own voice model it is separately said that WellSaid «will not share with other customers»; it is separately stipulated that usage data (Usage Data, excluding Customer Data) goes to developing the service and is disclosed only de-identified and in aggregate; inputs and outputs may be logged, but only on suspicion of a breach of the acceptable use rules
there is no difference between plans: the same agreement governs free use too (it has a separate liability cap «for any Services provided free of charge»). The /terms-of-use page does not relate to the services; it says «These Terms DO NOT APPLY to you in connection with your use of WellSaid's services»

on the pricing page the commercial rights are tied to the plan: Trial has "3 download minutes per month (no commercial rights)", Starter, Pro and Business have "Full commercial rights", with the common subheading "All with unlimited generation and commercial rights built-in". In the terms themselves at https://www.wellsaid.io/terms-of-use this is absent: only the rules of the website are stipulated there, the licence is given "to access and use the Website for your personal, non-commercial viewing only", and not a word about the rights to the audio that is created — the contract for the product itself is not published on the site as a separate page
the commercial rights are announced only by the marketing pricing page; the published terms relate to the website, not to the studio
