Thinkific

Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.

Overview

Thinkific is a tool for paid online courses and the communities around them. The self-description, word for word: "Build and sell online courses and communities with Thinkific, an all-in-one online course platform with a drag-and-drop builder, payments, and LMS tools" (homepage). That is the tool's own claim about itself, not an independent assessment. It gives the set of work as the tool itself sees it: a drag-and-drop builder, taking payments and the learning part (LMS).

This deep dive is short for one reason: the domain is closed off by bot protection. www.thinkific.com and thinkific.com answer with a Cloudflare 403 on /integrations/, /app-store/ and even on /robots.txt.

The interface language of the homepage is en-US, taken from the markup attribute; no other language versions are declared in hreflang.

The tool does have a machine-readable index llms.txt, and its size as of the date of the check is 5673 characters. That is our own measurement of the file, not a claim by the tool: the file changes along with the content of the site.

Which platforms it works with

Not a single social platform is named in the sources we checked — not because there are none, but because the pages on which such a list would stand cannot be read: both /integrations/ and /app-store/ return 403.

How you earn with it

Two different things should be distinguished here.

Earning through the tool is claimed directly in the self-description: Thinkific calls itself a platform on which courses are sold, and it mentions taking payments (homepage). The self-description names no share taken by the tool, no fees and no payout thresholds — not a single figure.

All addresses on www.thinkific.com and thinkific.com, including the homepage and robots.txt, answer 403 Forbidden, so whether the tool has an affiliate programme of its own cannot be seen from the outside.

What it will not do

Thinkific can tell a program that reads the site almost nothing about itself: the domain is closed off by a Cloudflare check, including the utility file robots.txt. Prices, the terms of a free plan and limits the site does not give to the outside. The domain does serve the index llms.txt, but it names no platforms, prices or limits.

Publishing to a social network is not claimed in the self-description at all: there it is courses, communities, payments and an LMS — and nothing about a posting schedule or connecting accounts.

Nor does it let you name the terms of an affiliate programme: the page cannot be read from the outside.

All of this the tool simply does not show to a reader who has not passed a bot check.
