Overview
Mention is a tool for tracking mentions with built-in publishing. Its two halves are described on different pages of the site: the Monitor section is responsible for watching brand mentions, the Publish section for putting posts out into social networks.
Besides social networks the tool announces the watching of the open web: on the Monitor page, next to the list of networks, stands "Web sources: forums, blogs, news and review websites". This is a separate category of sources, not a list of platforms for publishing.
One observation about the tool is worth keeping in mind while reading its pages. The text of the Publish page is written in the name of another tool — Agorapulse: word for word, "Promote your content on Facebook without leaving Agorapulse". Mention belongs to the same group, and the pages share the layout. The list of platforms from this page therefore has to be read carefully: it may describe the capabilities of the neighbouring product, not of Mention itself.
The interface language of the homepage is en. The hreflang markup on the site of the tool announces two language versions: English and French. There is no Russian version in the announcement.
Which platforms it works with
The lists diverge, and they have to be told apart by the kind of work.
Watching. The Monitor page says word for word: "Track all major social media channels, including Facebook, X (Twitter), Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn". Six platforms, and the word "including" means that the list is an open one — the tool does not claim that there are no others.
Publishing. The "Networks & integrations" menu on the Publish page names the same six: Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok. With that reservation about the other name in the text of the page which was mentioned above.
A third list contradicts both. An earlier machine reading of the homepage gives one platform, Instagram. It is a lower bound: the method gives omissions. The discrepancy with the six platforms is resolved in favour of the Monitor and Publish pages, where the list is named in the tool's own words.
Pricing
There are no prices on the site. The pricing page shows one plan — Company — and the sum on it is hidden. The currency, meanwhile, you are allowed to choose: USD, EUR or GBP. It is also noted there that some of the capabilities come as paid add-ons over and above the plan — that is, the final figure adds up from the plan and the add-ons, and not a single term of the sum is visible to us.
The only numerical figure the page names is the discount for annual payment: two months free, a saving of 360 in the currency chosen. From it the monthly price is not hard to reconstruct, but that would be our own calculation and not a claim by the tool, so we do not make it.
Restrictions
The limits the tool names itself lie on the same pricing page and concern not the volume of publications but the depth and the complexity of the search.
The depth of data storage is up to two years. Everything that was earlier the tool does not give out.
The length of a search query is limited: complex queries with logical operators are allowed up to a length of 2000 characters and only on the senior kind of alert. This is a rare kind of limit — in our register a restriction on the length of a query occurs for the first time. For those who build sprawling rules for selecting mentions it matters more than the number of accounts connected.
The tool names no daily limits on publishing.
How you earn with it
No affiliate programme is announced by the tool. The usual addresses have been checked — /affiliate, /affiliates, /affiliate-program, /partner-program, /referral and the same with the prefix /en/: all return 404. In the site map page-sitemap.xml there is no page about a programme either.
Separately about the address /partners: it opens, but it gives out a picture from an archive, not a page about partnership. Counting it as a confirmation of a programme is not possible.
The conclusion is a cautious one: the programme has not been found where it is customary to keep it. This is not a proof that it does not exist at all — but publicly it is not announced.
What it will not do
It will not show the price in advance. There is one plan, the sum is hidden, some of the capabilities are sold separately — comparing Mention with other tools on money without getting in touch with a salesperson will not work out.
The tool announces no free plan — but neither does it write about its absence: the pricing page is simply silent about free access.
It will not show data older than two years, and it will not accept long logical queries on the junior kinds of alert.
It will not let you earn on recommending the tool: there is no affiliate programme publicly.
It does not promise a Russian interface: only English and French are announced.
