Determ

Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.

Overview

Determ describes itself like this: "Determ, previously Mediatoolkit, is an easy-to-use media monitoring solution that helps understand the impact of any topic discussed online" (homepage). This is the tool's self-description, not an independent assessment: the words about ease of use and about "understanding the impact" belong to Determ itself.

The former name follows from the self-description too — Mediatoolkit. If you are looking for the tool under the old name, you will land on the same product; the renaming is announced by the tool itself.

The line of work is monitoring mentions: the tool watches where and how a given topic is discussed. It is not a scheduler and not an editor.

The interface language of the homepage is en-US. The hreflang markup on the tool's site declares two language versions: English and Croatian (en, hr). There is no Russian version among those declared.

The site is prepared for reading by programs: at the address llms.txt there is a machine-readable index. Its size on the date of the check is 5109 characters; this is our own measurement of the file, not a claim by the tool, and it changes along with the contents of the site.

Which platforms it works with

The list of monitoring sources is taken word for word from the questions and answers section: "news portals, websites, social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube), Reddit, TripAdvisor, forums, comments, blogs". The same set of social networks is named by the page /features-monitoring/ as well.

This list has to be read carefully, because two different things are mixed in it. Six platforms are named by name: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit and TripAdvisor. The rest — "news portals", "websites", "forums", "comments", "blogs" — are types of source, not platforms. A news portal or a forum is not in itself a platform from our catalogue, and these words cannot be turned into a list of supported services.

TikTok is absent from the list. The tool does note that a source can be requested to be added — that is, it does not treat absence from the list as final. But there is no promise of TikTok support on the page.

How you earn with it

Determ has no affiliate programme — at any rate, none announced. The usual addresses of such programmes were checked: /affiliate, /affiliates, /affiliate-program, /partners, /partners/ and /referral. All six return 404. In the sitemap there are no pages about an affiliate programme either.

That is not an oversight: no such pages exist either at the direct addresses or in the sitemap. It does not follow from this that the programme does not exist anywhere and never will; what follows is that it is not publicly announced and that earning on referred customers in any predictable way is impossible.

What it will not do

Determ will not take on publishing a post for you: it is occupied with monitoring.

The open pages name no prices, no terms of a free plan and no limits of use — the number of topics, of mentions, of users, the depth of history; there is no developers' section on the site. The markup declares only the English and the Croatian versions — the tool does not announce a Russian version, and about the languages of the texts being tracked the source says nothing at all; it does not follow from this that it does not find Russian mentions.

There is only one real refusal here: there is no affiliate programme, and that is confirmed by six closed addresses and by the sitemap.
