Admitad

Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.

Overview

Admitad is an affiliate network, an intermediary between advertisers and publishers. The title of the homepage is "Admitad - Collaboration Platform for Management Partners". The operator is named there too: admitad GmbH, Neckarsulm, Germany.

The main thing that sets Admitad apart from most of the networks covered here is that the terms for publishers are published openly, in English, with numbered clauses. Thanks to that, things are known here that with other networks have to be left unknown: who sets the rate, what the maximum payout period is, who is admitted to registration.

The figures, though — the amount of the threshold and the number of countries — are either moved off into a closed help centre or contradict themselves on one and the same page.

Who is admitted

The only requirement placed on an applicant in the terms is one of age, clause 1.2: "Registration is available to persons who have reached the age of 18". Legal majority; no other requirements — for the platform, the audience or the country — were found in the terms.

On geography the source contains a direct contradiction, and it is written on one and the same page for partners. Two different sets of numbers sit side by side there:

  • "Instant Payout · 2000+ brands · 50+ countries";
  • "Access 3000+ premium advertisers across 100+ countries".

Two thousand brands and fifty countries against three thousand advertisers and a hundred countries. The discrepancy is not resolved: the page contradicts itself, and which of the two sets is correct cannot be determined from the sources we checked.

Something else matters more: neither of these sets is a list of the countries from which publishers are accepted. Both speak about the network's coverage in advertisers, not about the geography of admitting partners.

How much they pay

The rate is set by the advertiser, and the terms say so directly, clause 6.2: "In each separate case, the reward amount is determined by the type of paid action and the rate set by the Advertiser for this action that is effective at the time of performing this action".

Three things are said here at once: the amount depends on the type of paid action; the rate is set by the advertiser; and the rate that applies is the one in force at the moment the action is performed, not at the moment you placed the link. The last of these means that a change of rate by the advertiser applies to future actions, and a figure seen earlier cannot be relied upon.

The network has no percentage of its own.

The lifetime of the click tag calls for caution. For advertisers' programmes no period is announced in the terms at all. The one-year period in clause 7.3 — "within a year of clicking" — applies only to the referral programme, that is, to bringing in other partners, not to purchases made through your affiliate links. That year cannot be carried over to ordinary affiliate clicks.

When and how they pay

A payout is initiated by the partner's request rather than by a schedule, and the maximum period is named in the terms: "Payment of the reward shall be performed by Admitad in reasonable time after receipt of withdrawal request, but no longer than 45 business days".

Forty-five business days is an upper bound set by the contract, not the usual period. The terms do not set any regular payout dates at all.

Alongside this it is worth noting the difference in tone between the documents. The page for partners mentions an "Instant Payout" tool — an instant payout; in the terms the limit is 45 business days. The first is the name of a tool on a promotional page, the second an obligation in a contract, and these are statements of different force.

The amount of the minimum payout threshold is not in the terms. The wording is a cross-reference: "The minimum withdrawal amount should equal or exceed the amount specified under the link, depending on the currency of withdrawal". The threshold exists, it depends on the currency of withdrawal, and the number itself is moved off behind a link into the help centre, which is closed to reading.

Payout methods are not listed in the terms for publishers. On the page for partners only the tool mentioned above, Instant Payout, is named — that is not a list of payment methods. The network does not name any withdrawal fees either.

What must be disclosed

No requirement to disclose the advertising relationship to your audience was found in the terms for publishers.

The terms do contain prohibitions, and serious ones — on spam and on cookie stuffing — but they protect the network and the advertiser from a dishonest partner, not the reader from undisclosed advertising. These are different things, and one cannot be substituted for the other.

This is silence on the part of the source, not permission not to disclose: an obligation to disclose an advertising relationship may exist under the law of your country regardless of whether the network writes about it.

What the network will not do

It will not set a rate of its own — the advertiser sets it, and the one in force at the moment of the action applies.

It does not publish the lifetime of the click tag for advertisers' programmes. The year in clause 7.3 is about the referral programme, not about affiliate clicks.

It will not show you the amount of the minimum threshold before registration: the terms refer you to the help centre.

It does not list payout methods.

It does not guarantee a fast payout by contract. The limit is 45 business days after the request; "Instant Payout" is the name of a tool on a promotional page, not an obligation in the terms.

It does not state which countries it accepts publishers from, and two figures about coverage on one page contradict each other.

It sets no requirements for the platform or the audience — the terms contain only the age restriction.

It does not require advertising to be disclosed to your audience — at least, there is no such clause in the terms for publishers.

Verified data

The checked data this deep dive rests on.

How the money works here

age: «Registration is available to persons who have reached the age of 18» (1.2). The applicant's site goes through moderation and must be finished: «All Ad Spaces that comply with applicable laws and regulations of these Terms, Privacy Policy and have been approved by Admitad moderators are allowed to participate in the Partner Network» (3.1); «Ad Spaces under construction are not allowed to participate. It is also forbidden to buy traffic in Active Advertising Systems (CAP, WmMail, Seosprint, etc.), Buxes, and similar systems» (3.2). The declared traffic source is fixed and may not be changed: «To use the registered Ad Space with a specific declared traffic source for attracting a different type of traffic» is on the list of prohibitions (5.8). Employees of the network may not register (5.10). The network may request documents: «Admitad shall have the right to request from the Publisher documents and data necessary ... to confirm the validity of information about the Publisher including but not limited to name, date of birth, address, tax number, and banking details» (3.6)

there is no minimum traffic and no list of forbidden site topics in the terms: section 5 lists forbidden working methods (cookie stuffing, deceiving the visitor, look-alike domains, spam) rather than topics. The page was obtained with curl using its own User-Agent, because WebFetch returns 403; bot protection was not circumvented. The robots.txt of www.admitad.com was read in full: the User-Agent: * group closes /en/, */ru/, */webmaster/, addresses with a query and service extensions; the path /terms-for-publishers/ does not fall under the prohibition

there is moderation of the application, and refusal may come with no explanation: «Admitad reserves the right to deny the Publisher to participate in the Partner Network with no reasons given» (1.5). The procedure: «To participate in the Partner Network, the Publisher submits a registration form on the registration page of the www.admitad.com domain» (1.1); «If these Terms are met, the Publisher receives a confirmation letter to the email address specified by them upon registration. Further, the participant must complete the registration process in order to be able to work in the Partner Network» (1.4). Sites are approved by moderators: «have been approved by Admitad moderators» (3.1)

the time for reviewing an application is not named in the terms. The help article Moderation of publishers on support.admitad.com returns 403, and the mirror of the terms at terms.admitad.com is closed by robots.txt with the lines User-agent: * / Disallow: / — we did not read that address
