Sapling
Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
Sapling is a writing assistant and an API toolkit for working with text. By the pricing page it includes grammar and spelling checking, Autocomplete Everywhere right in the fields of websites, paraphrasing and changes of tone and formality, shortening and lengthening of text, snippets and reply templates, sentiment analysis and an AI text detector. It works as an extension on top of other services and as an API.
Languages are described in detail, but with a reservation. The languages page says verbatim: "Sapling's Enterprise product supports languages besides English" — multilingualism is declared as a capability of the corporate product, not of the personal plans.
Further, language is split in two. With grammar and spelling work English, Chinese, Dutch, German, Korean, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese and Swedish. With spelling only — Russian, Hindi, Ukrainian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai and about twenty more languages. Arabic is not on the list at all.
Which platforms it works with
Sapling works on top of platforms rather than publishing to them.
The integrations page divides the list directly into FREE and PRO/ENTERPRISE. Free — browsers and desktop applications, mail, documents, team hubs. On the paid plans there are added contact centres, support desks and chats, sales systems, text editors, recruiting and social networks, among which are named Facebook, Twitter, Messenger, WhatsApp and Reddit.
Suggestions inside a social network window are a paid capability. Separately there are an API, an SDK, an MCP server and deployment on your own infrastructure.
Pricing
From the pricing page: Pro — 25 USD a month monthly and 12 USD a month with annual payment. Enterprise on request, the minimum volume named verbatim: "Starts at 10 seats, $15/seat/month", that is ten seats at 15 USD per seat. Separately stands an API plan paid by consumption.
The lowest step of entry is 12 USD a month, only with annual payment; monthly the cheapest is 25 USD.
What is free
The free plan is permanent: Free — 0 USD a month, and it includes basic suggestions, work on free domains, encryption and up to 20 snippets.
Separately from it the tool gives a free month of the paid plan. Verbatim from the pricing page: "Just sign up (no credit card required) to start a free 1-month trial of Sapling Pro". These are two different free things: a permanently reduced plan and a month-long trial of the full one.
Restrictions
The limits are set not by credits but by a set of capabilities and a list of domains: numeric quotas of generations the pricing page does not publish.
Free — up to 20 snippets, only basic suggestions, work on free domains alone. Pro and Enterprise — unlimited snippets, advanced suggestions, autocomplete, paraphrasing and unlimited work on premium domains. The API is paid by consumption.
The model of restrictions is functional, not credit-based: the question is not one of a quota but of where you type and what is included on your step.
Rights to the output
The rights differ by contract, and the tool says so directly in the text of the terms: "unless you have signed a service agreement with Sapling stating otherwise, you shall not license, sell, rent, lease, transfer, assign, distribute, host, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service, whether in whole or in part, or any content displayed within the Service".
Commercial exploitation of the content displayed within the service is by default forbidden and is opened not by buying a plan but by a separately signed agreement: Pro by itself does not give that right. The rights to your own input stay with the user — it is excluded from the list of what belongs to Sapling.
Do they train on your data
They do, although the word "training" is not used in the documents at all.
The terms require from the user a licence to their content "solely for the purposes of providing the Service and to improve the Service and develop new products and services". The licence is called irrevocable, and "improving the Service and developing new products" is what is said instead of "training".
The privacy policy confirms the same: "We collect text entered or otherwise transmitted by you" and "Your content is stored by us and used only to improve the Service".
There is no opt-out mechanism: the terms and the policy describe only opting out of Google Analytics and of marketing mail. Corporate clients are offered deployment on their own infrastructure, but that is an architectural alternative, not an opt-out mechanism.
How you earn with it
Commercial use is closed by default and is opened not by a plan but by a contract: the terms forbid commercially exploiting the service and any content displayed within it, "unless you have signed a service agreement with Sapling stating otherwise". A Pro subscription at 12 or 25 USD is not enough for that; a separately signed agreement is needed.
Building a competing product on the service is also forbidden.
What it will not do
Publish text for you it will not: the tool works on top of other people's windows rather than sending what is written to a platform.
The unlawful, the harassing and the abusive it will not let through. The terms forbid uploading and distributing content "unlawful, harassing, abusive, tortious, threatening, harmful, invasive of another's privacy, vulgar, defamatory, false, intentionally misleading, trade libelous, pornographic, obscene, patently offensive", and also content promoting racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm.
Forbidden too is content infringing third-party intellectual property rights, privacy and the right to one's image.
Mark what is written as machine-made it will not offer: neither watermarks, nor metadata, nor C2PA, nor a requirement to label the output is in what was read. The tool sells the inverse function — an AI text detector that identifies what other models have generated.
Arabic is not declared at all, and on Russian and Hindi the languages page promises spelling only — grammar in them the tool does not check.
