Palco MP3
Platform · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
Palco MP3 is a Brazilian showcase for independent music: an artist sets up a page, uploads tracks themselves and listeners download them for free. The platform describes itself as follows: «Palco MP3: ouça o novo — o melhor lugar para conhecer novos artistas, músicas e podcasts».
The owner is Studio Sol Comunicação Digital Ltda, the same company behind Cifra Club, Letras.mus.br and Forme Sua Banda; the list of its sites is given right in the terms of use. That matters for understanding the rules: there is one agreement for all the group's sites, and content uploaded to one of them is used on all of them.
The main thing to know before registering: Palco MP3 does not pay artists, either for plays or for downloads. In exchange it offers a free showcase with a large Brazilian audience.
Who's here
The platform gives its numbers on the artist registration page, and they are its own claims: 20 years of history, more than 137 thousand active artists, more than 1.6 million songs, more than 172 million downloads, more than 3 million unique users a month, more than 9 billion plays, more than 65 musical styles and more than 1000 artists promoted every month. On the same page the platform calls itself the most downloaded Brazilian music app on Google Play — that is its own claim about itself.
Be careful with these figures: the footer of the support site gives a different, older set — «more than 128 thousand artists, 1 million songs and more than 6 billion downloads», and the footer there is marked 2021 while the main site is marked 2026. So indicators from different years sit side by side inside one project, and the figures themselves carry no dates.
The country is Brazil, the interface language is Portuguese (pt-br). The platform does not publish an audience breakdown by region or age.
Getting started
Registering as an artist is free: the sign-up page repeats it twice — «É 100 % gratuito». The agreement confirms the same for all the group's services: «All the services, applications and features offered on our sites are entirely free, no payment is required from users».
You can simply read the site without registering; an account is needed to take part in features. Capacity restrictions are spelled out: the sites are available only to persons with full legal capacity under Brazilian law; minors must act through parents, guardians or legal representatives; one person may not have more than one account, and duplicates may be merged or permanently disabled without warning. Sign-in is possible through Facebook or Twitter profiles or a Gmail account.
Uploading
The procedure is described in the help centre. From a computer: log in to the site, open «Gerenciador do Palco MP3» by clicking your name in the top right corner, pick the artist page you need and press the green «Enviar Nova Música» button. From a phone — through the separate «Gerenciador do Palco MP3» app. The same page reminds you to save your edits and to give the correct song title and its composers.
The image requirements are stated as numbers: the minimum avatar size is 480×480, the minimum cover size is 1182×232. There are no requirements for the audio files themselves — format, bitrate, duration — in the open help centre.
What you can publish
The formats named in the agreement: song lyrics, chords, tablature, video, photographs, music files. The site also has playlist and podcast sections.
Rights to uploaded content
Palco MP3 has no familiar "licence to everything" here, but it does have a long list of permissions you grant by accepting the terms. Verbatim: «by accepting these Terms of use, you also agree that any content published by you, authored by you or by third parties, will be used on all our sites (even if the publication was made on only one site), as well as on our social networks».
Next — editing by other hands: «you allow the content to be edited by other registered users, who will be able to propose corrections, propose arrangements and changes». Then advertising: «you also allow our sites to place advertisements, including next to the content you have published, without any restrictions». Then broadcasts: you additionally allow the content of your profile to be used in live playlist broadcasts on the Palco MP3 channel on YouTube and on other social networks.
And the key sentence, the one that makes reading the whole agreement worthwhile: «You warrant that no use of the content you have published will entail a payment of any nature whatsoever, since providing it is always free of charge».
Handing material to a partner is a separate clause: by accepting the terms you allow your image and music to be shared in official Palco MP3 playlists placed in the Christian app Glorify; a footnote specifies that this partnership does not involve financial consideration in return.
Copyright and sanctions
The platform calls itself a «mere application provider» under the Brazilian Marco Civil da Internet and is not liable for what is published. Automation is used for control: the site footer states that copyright compliance is handled by ACRCloud, and the agreement speaks of «an advanced system that detects copyrighted content and prevents it from being published».
Separately, on covers and remixes: even if you made the arrangement yourself, you need permission from the owner of the original song; using fragments of a third party's lyrics or recording is allowed only with the permission of the song's author.
How to grow
The platform does not describe how selection and inclusion in its picks work. Of what it promises itself: more than 1000 artists are promoted every month, and promotion is done «with the platform's own resources, strategically, personally and in a human way» — there is nothing concrete behind that wording.
There is an educational part: the Palco MP3 blog with material on the independent musician's career — registering a song, the difference between a label and a recording company, what ECAD is. Freshness is uneven: on the date of our check the latest entry in the list was dated 20 August 2025.
Advertising exists on the platform as a product for brands (the site footer has an «Anuncie no Palco MP3» link), but on the date of our check the page behind that link returned a 404.
Path to monetization
There are no direct payouts from the platform. The help centre answers the question "How much does Palco MP3 pay per play?" unambiguously: «Palco MP3's current payment model is built on royalties for the public performance of music through ECAD. For that reason no artist receives a set amount for plays or downloads».
How the money does arrive: Palco MP3 pays into ECAD — the Central Bureau for Collection and Distribution, which collects author's royalties and distributes them to artists for the public performance of their tracks. To receive your share, the artist must register the songs with an association representing copyright; the amount Palco MP3 pays into ECAD will be distributed through the association the author belongs to.
The platform does not control the timing: the specific payout dates depend on the associations' calendars; ECAD has its own deadlines and procedures, and for exact information you need to contact your own association.
The practical conclusion: if you are not a member of a Brazilian collective rights management society, your income through Palco MP3 is zero.
There is an adjacent paid service: Palco MP3 has entered a partnership with Grave Online, a fully online recording studio, and accepting the terms means agreeing to its separate terms of use. The registration page describes it as «a complete, online and affordable service: arrangement, recording, mixing and mastering», with a footnote saying "the service is provided by an external partner".
Tools and automation
There is one in-house tool — «Gerenciador do Palco MP3»: a web dashboard and a mobile app for uploading tracks and managing albums, described in the upload help article.
The platform has no public API: there is no developer section on the pages we checked. The only programming interface mentioned in the agreement belongs to someone else: the Palco MP3 applications use the YouTube API services, and the Google sign-in data is used to confirm ownership of your YouTube channel and link it to your page on Palco MP3.
The agreement expressly prohibits automated data collection: you may not apply any data extraction methods or similar search methods, nor embed the site in a frame. The robots.txt file closes the service addresses /adm/, /cache/ and /facebook/ to crawling; it contains no restrictions for AI agents.
Limits and rules
- Age and legal capacity. Only persons with full legal capacity under Brazilian law; under 18 — through representatives.
- One account. Duplicates may be merged or disabled without warning.
- Copyright. Three or more warnings — suspension of the right to publish.
- Prohibitions. You may not infringe other people's rights, extract data, impersonate someone else, send spam and chain letters, or distribute discriminatory material.
- Removal. The platform has the right to take down any content at any moment without warning and without explanation; you fully agree to this and cannot claim compensation.
- Legal. The relationship is governed by Brazilian law regardless of where access is made from. Personal data and IP addresses are handed over on a court order.
- Changes to the terms. The terms are changed freely and at any moment, changes take effect immediately, and continued use of the site counts as tacit acceptance of them.
Who it's for
It suits Brazilian independent musicians who need a free showcase with a local audience and who already belong to a copyright management society: then plays convert into royalties through ECAD. It suits beginners: entry is free, no distributor is needed.
It does not suit you if you are counting on payouts from the platform itself: by the definition of the model, there are none. It does not suit foreign artists outside the Brazilian collective management system. It does not suit you if you dislike the idea that your content will be used on the group's other sites, edited by other users, wrapped in advertising and passed to a third-party app: you permit all of that by pressing "accept".

copyright compliance is handled by ACRCloud; the warning system has three tiers: light — on an attempt to upload a file identified as protected (each attempt counts as one warning); moderate — when published content is challenged or identified; at three or more warnings the profile loses the right to publish anything new for a period the platform decides, and in cases of persistent repeat offences, indefinitely
