ElevenLabs
Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
ElevenLabs is a tool that measures the work in characters of text. The unit of consumption here is a credit, and one character of text equals one credit on the V2 Multilingual models; on the V2 Flash and Turbo models, when addressed through the programming interface, a character costs from 0.5 to 1 credit (the pricing page). The consumption depends both on the chosen model and on the method of addressing — these are two different quantities, and they should not be confused.
The credits are shared for all the tool's products: "Credits are shared across every product". That is, there is no separate counter for each instrument, and everything you do spends one common store.
The programming interface has a property rare for tools of this kind: in the headers of the response the cost of the request in characters and the identifier of the request are returned (the description of the API). The consumption is visible on every call and not only in the account after the event — this lets an intermediary tool show the user the spending in real time.
On the site there is a machine-readable index llms.txt of a size of 9,444 characters on the date of the check; the number is our own measurement of the file, not an assertion by the tool.
The interface language of the homepage is English, and here a reservation is needed: only the language of the page itself is confirmed. The site does not declare hreflang and contains no language switcher, so the presence of other language versions has not been established.
Which platforms it works with
The tool has no list of platforms — and this is an established absence, not a gap in the collection. The pages /integrations and /docs/integrations answer with code 404. The address /app/integrations serves the shell of the application without content until one logs in to an account, that is, the list cannot be read without an account. On the pricing page social platforms are not named.
The correct conclusion from this is not "the tool works with nothing" but "the tool does not publish a list of what it works with in the places where such lists are customarily kept".
Pricing
The charging is per credit. There are seven plans (the pricing page): Free — 0, Starter — 6, Creator — 22, Pro — 99, Scale — 299, Business — 990 USD a month, Enterprise — on request.
The minimum paid price is 6 USD a month (the Starter plan, 30,000 credits).
To compare the plans by price alone is useless here: what matters is not only the sum but also how many credits go into it and by which model you spend them. One and the same text on V2 Multilingual and on V2.5 Flash will cost differently.
What is free
There is a free plan: 10,000 credits a month (the pricing page).
And here too is the most important restriction of the tool, which is not to be found in the list of functions. The commercial licence begins with the Starter plan. On the free plan commercial use is not available. For authors and business this means that the free plan is fit for looking and trying, but not fit for work: what is made on it cannot legally be applied for commercial purposes. The cost of entry into work is thus not zero but 6 USD a month.
Restrictions
The restrictions are expressed in credits, and they need to be counted with an eye on the model.
The credits are shared for all the tool's products — a common store for everything. On the free plan that is 10,000 credits a month, on Starter — 30,000.
One character of text equals one credit on V2 Multilingual. On V2 Flash and Turbo, when addressed through the API, a character costs from 0.5 to 1 credit. An identical "exchange rate" of character to credit does not exist, and consumption cannot be planned by a single number.
The legal restriction of the free plan — the absence of a commercial licence — is in its consequences harsher than any numerical one.
How you earn with it
A programme is announced: the ElevenLabs Creator Affiliate Program, the account on PartnerStack (the page of the programme). The address /affiliate redirects here, /referral — to the form /partner-application.
The rate is 22% of all payments during the first 12 months ("22% of all payments for the first 12 months") on the Starter, Creator, Pro and Scale plans; 11% on the Business Plan. On plans of the enterprise level no commission is paid at all. There are no restrictions on the sum of earnings.
The payouts are recurring, but only for the first 12 months of the subscription. On cancellation of a plan by the client the payouts cease; on a refund of the money the commission is withheld — this is from the section of questions and answers on the page of the programme.
The lifetime of the click tag is 90 days: "The cookie duration is 90 days". The minimum payout threshold is 5 USD: "The minimum payout threshold is $5". The payouts go through PartnerStack; the commission is paid after the licence has been active for more than 90 days, the payout period is from the 1st to the 15th of the month. The concrete methods of withdrawal are governed by PartnerStack's rules.
A site or a blog is not obligatory for a participant: one may promote in social networks and by mail. Forbidden are spam, misleading advertising, self-referral, bids on brand queries in search and pages passing themselves off as official. There is no multi-level scheme — for referred partners nothing is paid. The support of the programme is [email protected].
What it will not do
It will not let you work free of charge for commercial purposes: the commercial licence begins with the Starter plan, and on the free plan there is none. This is the tool's own statement, not our interpretation.
To count consumption by a single character rate will not work: on different models and with different methods of addressing a character costs a different number of credits. Nor will there be a separate store of credits for each product — the store is one for everything.
Commission on corporate plans a partner will not receive: on enterprise it is not paid. The payouts for a client will cease after 12 months, and also at once if the client cancels the plan.
A list of supported platforms the tool does not publish: the integrations pages answer 404, and the internal integrations page is closed until one logs in to an account. Whether there is built-in work with social networks cannot be established from the open pages.
There is no separate text of the terms of the affiliate programme: the link from the page leads to the general terms of use. The terms exist, but not in the form of a separate document about the programme.
The presence of language versions of the site has not been established: hreflang is not declared, there is no language switcher.
